The Smith Kitchen renovation reimagines the heart of a historic home in St. Paul—led by a client who knows character when he sees it. As a realtor with a deep appreciation for quirky old houses, The owner wasn’t interested in trend-driven updates or a sleek kitchen that could belong to any house, anywhere. He wanted a kitchen that felt true.
Together, we crafted a space that’s grounded in what the home was always trying to be: warm, slightly idiosyncratic, and highly functional. This meant new appliances and storage systems that worked for modern life, but also trim, hardware, and layout moves that honored the home’s rhythms and materials.
At Saint Terre, we believe stewardship is a design act. And in this case, renovation didn’t mean reinvention—it meant listening carefully to what the house was already saying and helping it speak a little more clearly, a little more usefully, a little more beautifully.
