Designed to honor the last remaining edge of Lake Minnetonka, these homes bring softness, light, and flow to a site long constrained by environmental boundaries—balancing the urgency of preservation with the deep, human desire to dwell near water.
Lake Minnetonka Flats is a 12-unit multi-family residential development located on a constrained infill site along Lost Lake, a tributary of Lake Minnetonka with direct water access. The project was shaped by extensive coordination with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and responds to the environmental and spatial limitations of the site while preserving the natural integrity of wetland habitats.
The development consists of three buildings, each organized around four single-level condominium units with open floor plans and direct visual connections to the lake. Covered verandas provide an outdoor living space while moderating sun exposure and extending the usable footprint of each unit to offer a secondary "living room."
The buildings employ traditional massings with durable and true stucco cladding to establish a distinguished architectural presence within the lakeshore setting. Integrated lower-level, private garages with storage allow the upper floors to prioritize daylight, views, and indoor-outdoor continuity.
